Spring is literally just around the corner and you know what that means….Out with the parkas and in with some great new coats that don’t have to protect you against minus fortey weather! Here are some looks that you can take right off of the runway and work into everyday life. Now, the examples I’ve used are runway, but just look at the shape and fabric. Expensive doesn’t mean the only option. You can find all of these styles for way less.

Bell Shape- Coat By Jil Sander

The whole point of this shape is to add fullness to your ensemble with a slight nod to sixties fashion. If you’re into really skinny jeans and boots, this coat balances that look really well.

Sleek And Classy- Coat By Carven

A long overcoat is one of those things that every woman should invest in. It especially comes in handy when you have to wear a dress somewhere that the weather fluctuates (hello Canada). Remember though that when you buy a close to the body coat, you can’t be throwing your biggest sweater on under it. It simply won’t fit. This coat is for when you’re wearing a body skimming outfit.

Orange Crush- Coat By Louis Vuitton

Amidst the sea of spring pastels, stand out in an orange coat. It’s a piece for you ladies that like some attention without having to have a breast fall out while you’re walking down the street to get it. Plus, you’ll be able to rework it in fall when the warm tones come out.

White Done Right- Coat By Versace

There is nothing like a clean and crisp white coat. It’s instantly chic (unless you have a giant red wine stain down the front). White is one of those universal colors that can automatically update the oldest pair of jeans that you have into looking new.

You’re Wonder Woman, Show It In A Cape- Cape By Erin Fetherston

A cape is my absolute favorite spring or fall purchase. I like to always have a nod to the seventies and you can style a cape into seventies territory real quick. However, it’s also great for a business meeting or having to have both arms out to grab at your children.

Brights Done Right- Coat By Chanel

If you’re really into standing out, try a bright coat with a peekaboo pattern or embroidery. With some layering and your favorite bag, it can be the perfect style statement for someone who isn’t a wallflower.

The New Tweed- Coat By Chanel

image

If you’re a classic lady, you’re probably thinking “Ok, you’ve done two brights. Put something a little more toned down on here already”. This one is probably going to be for you. The classic tweed coat has gotten an update in many different ways, but the new colored and oversized tweeds are amazing. Comfortable, wearable, and not too trendy. These will be classics you can have in your closet for years.

Last But Not Least, The Belted Beauty- Coat By Gucci

A belted coat is a way to put a feminine spin on your outerwear. Dresses, jeans, leggings, it all works under a good belted coat. Pairing it with boots or heels ups the sex appeal in a big way.

All of these coats can work well on whatever kind of body type that you might have. Dress for the situation. If you want more curves, throw the belted coat on. If you want to live in your biggest knit sweater, then try the bell. More importantly, they all go nicely with rubber boots for when the snow starts to melt and we are nose deep in slush and water. Bring on Spring!
