A lot of people have commented on my skin. I am VERY quick to point out that my skin is actually quite disgusting. Yes, I may not have the problems that you oily skinned girls have, but my skin is so dry that I’m like a tortoise. No joke. Not a pretty picture. So while some of you have to combat oil and use special drying products, I have to loofah my skin off. Along the way I’ve found some products that you might find useful. I personally use all of these and actually pulled them all out of my bathroom as I write this so that I don’t fuck up their names. Most of them you can find at the drugstore because when I need something, I NEED it and I’m not pissing around and waiting.
In The Shower
If you think that I’m just hanging out doing facials all day, you’re wrong. I’m the queen of multitasking and will do six things at once. While my conditioner is soaking into my hair in the shower, I’ll wash my face with Nivea Cleansing Gel and then I’ll do a quick polishing mask. I personally like Freeman Charcoal And Black Sugar Polishing Mask. It’s cheap, it scrubs off your dead skin and it heats up. Pretty amazing.
I usually shower at night, so when I get out I just put on a serum and then a moisturizer. I have a couple that I really like but I usually use either Nip + Fab Viper Venom Wrinkle Fix with Nip + Fab Bee Sting Fix Cream Deluxe overtop or I use Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Cream. Then I mix some pure Vitamin E Oil with some Bio-Oil and tap it under my eyes like you would concealer. That’s more of my every night routine.
If You Want To Kick It Up A Notch
Yes, after all of that my skin will still start to feel rough if I don’t take some other extra steps. So, while I’m folding and hanging laundry or doing the dishes, I’ll throw a mask on too. I’ve really been liking éclos Plant Stem Cells Clay Mask. It dries very fast so you’re not waiting around all night. And that, my friends, is what I have to go through in the Winter to look somewhat human. I’ll also switch the mask I use every couple of weeks and then back again just to keep my skin from getting used to it.
I know that I may seem all devil may care and full of wine sometimes, but I also like being in control. So whatever I know I’m doing that might cause havoc on my skin, I do take steps to counterbalance my shenanigans. For example, if I come home pissed as a parrot, I will always take my foundation off. I might not get to the mascara all the time, but I try to make sure that my skin is always clean before I climb into bed.
When I emerge from my bed the next day, I try to replenish all of the moisture my body lost. Water and lemon all day long. Either hot water and lemon, iced water and lemon or both. You have to give your body and skin a helping hand sometimes. Especially when you’re pounding three bottles of homemade wine on your own.
I’ve also noticed that since I started taking every vitamin in the world a couple of weeks ago, my skin has felt a lot better (remember, it’s not all about looks). It hasn’t felt as tight or itchy because of its constant, nagging dryness. I try to take Vitamin B50 Complex, Vitamin C, Calcium Magnesium + Zinc, Vitamin E, Vitamin B6, Vitamin A, Mild Iron, and Vitamin D everyday. So far my body and skin feel great.
