As the end of summer gets closer, we sadly have to start thinking about adding some warmer pieces to our wardrobes. However, there are some things that you can start using right now so that you can ease into fall without breaking the bank. Just add one or two whenever you can. That way, when fall and winter hits the scene, you won’t be stuck. You just have to remix the pieces you’ve already gotten.

Plaid

Plaid is always a fall and winter favorite. It always has a bit of a classic vibe to it, but because you can mix it with any other kind of style is extremely wearable. If you aren’t sure about it, start with a plaid scarf. If you really like the way that it looks and you feel comfortable in trying a heavier dose, then try a plaid coat. The key to it if you’re apprehensive, is to keep the colors down so it’s not too harsh. Think camels, warm browns, burgundy and navy blue.

Faux Fur

I love some faux fur, or real if you acquire it vintage shopping. I don’t do new fur, but that’s my own personal choice. To use your fall faux fur, try mixing it with a maxi dress or jeans and a tank. Summer fur looks more whimsical and carefree. It’s not as serious as fall and winter fur, so have some fun mixing and matching it with some of your floaty summer pieces. Very boho glam.
