Recently, Good As Gold Living was invited to attend the media launch of Rockport’s new concept store at Polo Park in Winnipeg. First of all, a huge thank you to Rockport for thinking of us. It was super nice and flattering that you wanted to include us in such a great day for you. Secondly, if any of you are in the area, get down there. You won’t be disappointed.
I had a previous engagement that I had to attend so I sent my brand manager Janelle down to take a peek. She fell in love with the merchandise. I would also like to point out that she has been back since then to purchase more! Trust me, she doesn’t buy anything that she doesn’t feel would be a big asset to her closet. So that told me that this line is no joke. She took some notes about the store and sent me some pictures, both of which I’m going to share with you. Mainly because when you find great shoes, you pass that information along.
Rockport has recently undergone a rebranding, which focuses on their three core values: style, comfort and technology. Their products and their stores reflect this by incorporating running shoe technology into all of their fashionable pieces. The store itself , which is a very bright and light urban loft style, has great features such as a “runway light” set up and video walls. Very, very, cool.
The main dress line in the store is called “Total Motion” and caters to both men and women. The focus is on style and flexibility for ultimate comfort. This season, they’ve introduced some fresh new colors including rose, sky blue, camel and tan in pumps, wedges and sandals. Of course they also have coordinating handbags so that you can leave the store fully accessorized and ready to take on your day in style and comfort. You really can’t get much better than that. Goodbye to the days where to look good you had to dress yourself in shoes that made your feet fall off. Rockport has officially taken care of that problem. They make sure to tell you that in their tagline for Total Motion, “from seven to seven”, highlighting their comfort factor and the fact that you can wear them all day and still feel great!
Their dress/casual line features cork sandals with extra cushioning, including fashion styles and more active wear. Their casual/active line is super lightweight and features shoes that are washable, have memory foam, and that are waterproof and breathable. All great features for the unpredictable Manitoba weather that we have to endure. For any of you guys out there reading this, they haven’t forgotten about you. For men they have “Active Flex”, which is the casual, lightweight and flexible line of shoes. They also have “HydroShield” technology on their active and dress shoes, which is waterproof leather. If that’s not handy enough, they also carry a machine-washable leather loafer for you guys. Caked on mud on your shoes is no longer a problem.
If you’re ever around Polo Park then go and check this store out. The shoes and accessories are absolutely worth it. Did I mention that all of their shoes are designed by Italian design studio Roberta Rossi? If you haven’t heard of them then remember that name. They also designs shoes for Michael Kors. Plus, the store itself is beautiful and the staff is very welcoming, warm and inviting.

I have a hard time committing to shoes that aren’t sexy, sky high heels—even though they are so impractical. But I LOVED so many of these shoes and it was really hard to walk out of there with just one pair. Even Nyco, my fiancé who is notoriously selective when it comes to shoes, was impressed with the styles and how comfortable the shoes were. He bought a pair for work where he’s on his feet for several hours a day and they’ve been fantastic.
