I remember when I was younger, I would get in trouble all the time if my bra straps were showing. I never really understood at the time but now I get it. It has become one of my biggest pet peeves. Nothing can drag a good outfit down like having straps hanging everywhere. Plus, in the summer you will look like a zebra from all of the tan lines. So here is the line up of bras you can find that will fit your every need.

Strapless

This little number is to be worn when you are wearing a strapless or one shouldered dress or top. It’s tricky, this one. If you have breasts bigger than an A cup then there’s a chance you have referred to this bra as “the devil” before. They can slide down with movement and your bra will be around your belly button. To fix any kind of sliding, rubber has now been added around the top and bottom of the bra so that it sticks to your skin. Personally, I’m always still trying to pull it up. When you’re setting out to purchase a strapless bra, please try it on beforehand. Otherwise it will end up thrown out your window.

Sport

Anytime you plan on working out or playing sports, choose a sports bra. You can find them in a wide range of styles. With thin to thick straps, you can find them for activities everywhere from yoga to marathons. Usually in a breathable and flexible material, they strap your breasts down so that you don’t injure yourself or others while doing your jumping jacks.

Convertible

If you have a lot of different styles of tops and dresses in your closet, investing in a convertible bra is your best bet. That way you don’t have to run out and buy every different kind of bra. This one does it all. You can wear it strapless, criss crossed, halter, with one strap, or two. The only thing I would warn you about is to look after the straps. If you don’t wash them properly they can get twisted and wrapped up. Then you’re going to be spending a good chunk of your night trying to fix it so that you can actually wear it. They come in everything from a regular fit to an extreme push up.

Push Up

If you’ve ever wanted to look down and have your nose hit your breasts, then strap on one of these bad boys. They are designed to lift up what mama gave you and can give you double, sometimes triple your cup size. If cleavage is no joke to you, then buy one with padding as well and in a band size one size smaller than usual. Boom! You’re welcome. In industries where ladies breasts are their money makers, they sometimes even wear two push-up bras at the same time for double the results. That’s too much commitment for me. It’s a struggle to get me into one at all.

Deep V

For all those times that you want to do your best Jennifer Lopez impression and wear a top or dress cut down to your navel. The deep v bra is, well, just that. It has a very deep v in the middle with more bra on the sides. So not only does it allow you to wear something a little more low cut, but it also gives your breasts a little push inward from the sides.

Breast Tape

When you are wearing a dress or top with a sheer back and it’s in a setting where showing your bra is inappropriate, then try what the celebrities do in that situation. It’s called breast tape and it keeps everything in place with no straps whatsoever. You can also get it in petal shape that adheres exactly like tape. No fuss, no muss.

Full Coverage

If any of you are busty, then I’m sure that you are familiar with a full coverage bra. It is designed to hold you into place and keeps the majority of your breasts covered. It is a great choice for larger chests because of its comfort level and for the fact that your nipple won’t be able to pop out and say hello like it can if you’re wearing a balconette bra. This bra promises to offer maximum coverage and support.

Balconette

Also known as a shelf bra, this bra slightly lifts the breasts to enhance their appearance, shape, and your cleavage. They show a bit more skin, and the cups are about half the size of a full coverage. They are great for boat neck tops or anytime you want a bit of lift without the show stopping capabilities of a push up.

Demi

Much like the balconette, the demi is used to slightly lift. It’s a partial-cup bra that covers half, to three quarters of the breast. Most are designed with a slight tilt that pushes the breasts towards the center to display more cleavage. The straps usually attach at the outer edge of the cup and the underwire used is shorter and forms shallower “u”shape under the cup.

Minimizer

This bra is actually to make your breasts look smaller. It compresses and reshapes the breasts to make them appear smaller than what they actually are.

Padded

So, this bra would be exactly the opposite of the minimizer and is a bit of a liar. The lining of the cups is thickened with padding to make you look somewhat chestier than what you actually are. Padded bras support the breasts but aren’t intended to give you dramatic cleavage. They just add to your busy size.

T-Shirt

A t-shirt bra is designed without raised seams, hooks or anything else that can be seen under your shirt. It’s contoured and meant to fit the breasts smoothly under any tight, light fabrics. Be warned, if you don’t want to have to worry about your nipples greeting everyone whenever a breeze hits the room, then look for one that has some light padding. Trust me in this, I speak from nipple experience.

Maternity/Nursing

These bras are for when you are pregnant or nursing. They are made with wider straps for comfort and and usually have no underwire. They are designed to accommodate increased breast size. Nursing bras provide panels that can easily be undone over each breast to easily access the breast.

Today, bras come in every style, material and color you can think of. I also didn’t say whether or not they have an underwire because you can find every style with or without. It really depends on what you’re looking for. Personally, a great convertible bra is something that every woman should have in their drawer. Then you’re covered for every style of clothing and every event. I hope you find this helpful the next time you go bra shopping!
