This week’s fashion crush is an absolute icon in my world. I think she lived with elegance, grace, and a whole lot of fashion certainty. By this I mean that even while wearing a plain shirt paired with pants she looked flawless because she owned it. I’m of course talking about Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Even in her often worn skirted suits with matching hats she came off as fashionable yet approachable. That’s not a very easy accomplishment.

Obviously her style was a lot more classic than mine, she was known for her strands of pearls and pillbox hats for god sakes, but I’m still drawn to the beauty of it. She is a first hand example of how simplicity can be über chic. She always had a very minimalist take on dressing, adding a bit of extra with some accessories. Long gloves for dressy occasions, hats, pearls, oversized sunglasses, a demure clutch and her famous Cartier tank watch. You get my drift.

She is remembered as one of the most fashionable women of all time because of these things. You’ve got to love a woman in the public eye who dares to keep things refined and classic. She managed to become a global icon without being gimmicky. Always showing the world a flawless sensibility to fashion. Jackie managed to move through the jobs of First Lady to mother and back again with grace and ease. You could see her photographed with her children on the beach in the afternoon and see her later that same day in an evening gown and believe it. She never came off as wearing a costume. She seemed genuine and true to herself with what she wore. That’s truly something to be admired.
