Spring has sprung! Time to shake off those dull winter blues, add a little pep in your step and freshen up your home a bit. There are lots of budget friendly ways to take on this task. These are some of my favorite ways to add a fresh feeling to the house without making too much of a commitment or breaking the bank.

  1. Spray paint some old frames. Gold, silver or white make a very clean and crisp impact with a little oomph.
  2. Add a blanket to the back of your couch in a pop of color.
  3. Flowers, flowers, flowers. I’m a complete flower whore. Real or fake throw them in a vase and place them somewhere where company can see them. Flowers make everyone feel happy.
  4. Purchase some new throw pillows in your fresh spring color of choice. This can even be white if that’s the feeling your going for.
  5. Antique an old piece of wood furniture in cleaner color. It will really add a difference to whichever room in your house you put it.
  6. Paint or wallpaper a show wall in your home. It’s a very quick and non committal way to add a little flair in. Plus you can hang your newly painted frames on it!
  7. Find some fabric you like and reupholster your dining room chairs seats.
  8. Add a new pattern to your home in a small way. You can add a lot off impact with the right mat at your front door or with a tablecloth.
  9. Arrange things in a new way. Who says you can’t mix a couple of small books with a picture frame and a candle on your kitchen counter. It’s all about mixing and placement.
  10. Make a photo wall. Frames of all of the same color and size or mixing big and small with colors that compliment each other both make a big impact.

All of these ideas can be produced on a very small budget. The point isn’t to change your house. Just to add a few fresh flourishes that compliment what you’ve already got going on. Have fun with it!
