We all have that one facial feature that we actually like about ourselves. That one thing that when you’re done getting ready, you look in the mirror and think “hey you, I really like what you do for my face”. If you’re getting worried that I’m going to tell you to change that, then idle down. I’m going to discuss how to perfect that part of your face and really let it shine. Then, you’ll always feel great! There are certain things you can do to let your features be the star of the show rather than downplay them. Let’s take a look…
Sometimes a lot of dark liner can make your eyes appear smaller than they are. Personally, I don’t care. I dare you to try to pry my black liner out of my hand. However, if you do want your eyes to stand out and look larger, always use a light and shimmery neutral on your lids. Light and medium pinks, coppers, roses, beiges, taupes and grays all work well. If you want a little bit more depth, then add a shade two colors or more deeper into the crease. It’s always nice to have a bit of liner on the top lid because it emphasizes the shape of your eye and it blends with your mascara nicely. So either add a thin line with light and feathery strokes of a pencil, a liquid eyeliner, or press a black gel eyeliner on with a thin brush. To make your eyes look a little more awake, add a pink toned highlighter shadow on the inner corners to erase any shadows. Finish with two coats of mascara and you have a great wide eyed look.
Ok. I have seen horror stories when it comes to lips. Too dark of lip liner, too light of lipstick, ect. If you want a super easy way to make your lips appear more full, then just follow these simple steps. Line your lips slightly out of your lip line with a pencil the same color as your lips. When I say slightly, I mean just that…..slightly. Not joker or Pam Anderson style. Then, lightly blend that line into your lips with your finger so that it’s not so harsh. Apply a neutral toned cream lipstick and then add a gloss in a slightly lighter shade to the center of your bottom lip only.
If you want to play up your cheeks, it’s all about the contour and the highlight. To contour, apply a matte blush right below the cheekbone from your hairline to the apple. Pick a shade that’s close to the color that you naturally blush. Or if you want a monochromatic look, then choose a shade close to a natural lipstick you usually wear. To avoid a striped look, blend really well once you apply your blush. When it comes to highlighting, it’s simple. All you have to do is brush a highlighting powder or an iridescent blush a shade or two lighter than what you used for contouring. Apply it along the tops of your cheekbones and in a circular motion right on the apples of your cheeks. When it comes to shimmer please remember that a little goes a looooong way. Unless you’re going to a disco party. Then shimmer on.
This isn’t going to be a heavy contour. Heavy contouring is for Vogue Magazine. And even then, they photoshop. This is just to give your nose a little tweak. With a concealer brush, lightly dab on a cream foundation a couple of shades darker than what you normally wear along the sides of your nose. Blend well without getting any on the bridge of your nose. Try to keep all of your blending confined to the sides. When that’s blended evenly, highlight the center with a swipe down the middle, lengthwise, of very light in color luminizing powder. Don’t add a lot though, the key is to keep it looking as natural as possible. If you get that middle line too shiny it can look too done. This is all about blending, so maybe try this one a couple of times before you wear it out on the street.
There’s nothing wrong with taking what you have and giving it a little polish now and then. That’s what makeup is for! You don’t want to spend half of your night putting the stuff on though. So I hope you try out these simple and easy tips for putting your favorite asset on display. Good luck and I hope you have fun!
