If you’re looking for a super easy DIY project, try a sugared fruit centerpiece. They look absolutely beautiful and can be great for dinner parties, weddings, or just to give yourself something nice to look at on your table or in your kitchen.

Choose Your Fruitimage

Clementines, plums, grapes and pomegranates are all great choices. Personally though, I love the look of lemons and limes when they are done. Plus, they last a long time sitting out.

Get Started

You can use both fresh and decorative fruit for this project. If you’re using fresh, brush with powdered egg white mixed with water. For decorative, brush with fresh egg whites. Place on a broiling rack so that the egg white doesn’t rub off.

Coat

Use superfine sugar so that you get the snowy, frosted look that you’re trying to achieve. If you want to add a little more glam, then add some loose glitter to your sugar. You can always try full out sparkle too by adding a complete shit load of glitter. It all depends on what look you like the best. Leave it to dry on a rack or on parchment paper.

If you are planning to do this for a wedding or a dinner party, don’t make your decorated fruit more than a day or two in advance. The sugar should preserve it for at least a week.
