We live in a world where you can buy a lotion or potion to fix anything beauty related. While I don’t have a problem with trying these things out, I often wonder if we are doing what we can on an everyday platform to help ourselves. Did you know that certain fruits have amazing benefits for the skin? Hell, even if it’s not true, at 35 I’m willing to drink the tears of a virgin at midnight if it will help me keep fine lines at bay. Might as well just try the damn fruit.

Apples

Is there anything an apple can’t do? They keep doctors away AND keep your skin looking amazing. This is due to them being full of malic acid. Malic acid promotes healthy and youthful looking skin because it renews skin cells. In other words, apples are magic.

Mangos

Mangos are full of a little immune booster I like to call Vitamin A. Vitamin A is also used to treat acne and other skin related disorders. Plus, they makes a pretty kick ass smoothie. So if you have any scars from picking at your face when you shouldn’t have, head over and grab a mango.

Lemons

Lemons are really getting their time in the spotlight lately thanks to flavored water. Who knew they were one of the top citrus fruits for your skin! Lemons have tons of skin repairing benefits. They can help reduce the darkness of blemishes while giving you glowing and healthy skin. I like using them to trick my body when I’m craving sour candy. I suck on a piece of lemon instead. I swear that the more lemon I have in a week, the better my skin looks. No joke.

Bananas

Bananas are the potassium dealers of the fruit drug world. These yellow bad boys are all about the moisturizing and hydrating party, which will lead to a softer, younger looking appearance. Anyone that has dry skin knows how annoying it can be. Just think, you could be saving so much time by adding bananas to your diet instead of having to slather yourself down with lotion non stop.

Berries

One word: antioxidants. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are all amazing sources of antioxidants. These antioxidants, such as vitamin C, protect your skin from harmful free radicals that can actually speed up the aging process in your skin. You probably already have a night cream in your cupboard that contains antioxidants (most face lotions have them now), so an extra boost can only do good things.

Basically, there’s no excuse to not eat fruit. Yes, you may be combating what you can from the outside with your favorite Oil Of Olay product, but you can also help your skin repair and look polished from the inside as well. I don’t know about you, but pass me the lemon water and bananas asap.
