Happy Monday dolls! Let’s kick this week off by talking about the perfect colors for your skin tone. Have you ever borrowed a top from one of your friends? You put it on and what appears to make them glow like a frickin angel makes you look like you took a bath in some dish water. The probable reason is that it’s the right shade for them and not for you. If you stand under natural light and look at your veins you can get a head start on what will look good on you. If your veins appear more of a greenish tint, then you have warm coloring. If they appear blue, then you’re a cool. That is half the battle. I’m going to break down the seasonal colors for you and you can decide what season you are.
Do you have golden skin and get natural highlights easily? Then you’re probably a spring. Sunny floral colors make your golden skin pop and show off your yellow undertones in the most flattering way. Your most flattering shades are playful, like a spring garden in full bloom. The colors are vibrant without being too harsh. If you are more into neutrals, then choose dove grey and camel. Try to stay away from harsh black and pure white. These just compete against your coloring, rather than flatter it. To identify spring coloring celebrity wise, think Cameron Diaz with her tanned skin and multi blonde hued hair.
Summers usually have olive skin and hair color that doesn’t contrast too strongly against their skin tone. If this is you, then you are best complimented by soft, relaxed hues like water colors and pastels. If you aren’t into pastels, then you can also try wintergreen, amethyst, periwinkle, navy, and mid tone greys. A summers worst color choices are earth tones like rust. They can actually make you look sallow. A summer colored celebrity would be Jennifer Lopez or Penelope Cruz.
Autumn, you have earthy sex appeal. Your deep bronze skin or undertones and blended low contrast hair are made even better with colors that you would find in the spice cupboard. You can rock the shit out of colors like burgundy, goldenrod, chocolate, olive, and wheat. Stay away from anything to crisp or bright like primary colors. Try to stick to natural, mixed shades. Always opt for gold when you want to incorporate some jewelry. It will make your skin absolutely glow. A great example of autumn is Beyoncé Knowles.
Do you have pale, pink skin? If the answer is yes then chances are you’re a winter. Winter coloring is usually characterized by the contrast of cool skin tone with dark, mostly monochromatic hair. You’ve probably found that sunny highlights just make you look washed out. You look your best in rich pigments like sapphire, emerald, ruby and black. Pastels or most muted shades work against your striking coloring. Always try to buy clothing with colors that have a lot of depth and richness to really make your features pop. A celebrity with winter coloring is Anne Hathaway.
Once you get used to incorporating colors that work with your coloring, you will be amazed at the difference it can make. Your eyes will look brighter, your skin will look better, and a lot of imperfections can be masked. Start to incorporate your colors into your makeup too for even better results. It’s the easiest kind of makeover you can give yourself where you know you will love how you look at the end. Good luck ladies!
