I’ll be honest with all of you. I can’t do hair. Not even a little bit. If I find something that’s easy that has somewhat good results, I ride that style right into the ground. Here are some of my go to’s. They are fast and easy to pull off. The most technical you are going to have to get is using a curling iron.
An up-do doesn’t have to be hard, as long as you don’t try to make it too perfect or severe. If you keep it textured and a bit messy, even if you screw up its still going to come across as well done. Use a lightweight shampoo before you style and if you have to condition, then focus only on the ends to keep your volume. Even better, don’t wash it at all. Apply a texturizing product for even more volume and chunkiness. Decide if you want to place hair high or low and hold it there while you pull a few strands around your face to keep it looking natural. Grab some bobby pins and pin your hair back into place. The messier with this, the better. If you want something a bit neater, then pull back into a loose bun or ponytail and secure with an elastic. Spritz it all over with a flexible hold hairspray to keep it in place. If a few strands fall out though, it’s just going to ad to the style.
This is another style that the more messy it is the better it is. Spray a sea spray product throughout wet hair to add some body. Grab your blow dryer, set on medium and dry your hair while scrunching and tousling as you go. Smooth the roots a bit with a brush, then, starting mid way up your hair, curl ends vertically with a 1-inch iron. Alternate directions of the curls so that they don’t look too perfect. Rub texturizing cream between palms and pull through hair to break up waves.
On damp hair, apply volumizer to roots, then run a heat protecting styling cream through hair. Next, blow dry with a round brush. Point hair dryer nozzle down to help seal the cuticles so that your strands lie flat and reflect light for more shine. Create large, loose waves by wrapping large sections of hair around 1 1/4- inch iron away from your face. Remember that the larger the barrel of your curling iron, the looser the waves you will get. Spray lightly with spray to hold.
Starting on wet hair, add straightening cream through your hair. Then use a paddle brush to smooth hair as you blow dry. Once your hair is completely dry, flat iron 1-inch sections of your hair. Start close to the roots and sweep the iron down bending the ends of your hair slightly under. When you are all finished, dab on some hair oil for even more shine.
Spray damp hair throughout with volumizing spray. Next, divide hair into four sections. Blow dry each section, lifting hair away from your face with a medium size round brush. Once all of your hair is dry it will be full and bouncy already because essentially you have just given yourself a blowout. To add even more bounce, wrap small pieces of hair vertically around a 1-inch curling iron. Run fingers through hair to break up curls and to add more fullness. Spray with hairspray to set.
If you master these simple hairstyles, you will be set when it comes to getting ready for any occasion. Prepare yourself for compliments.
