Beach waves are one of my favorite ways to wear my hair. It’s simple enough for daytime but also looks appropriate for a night out. I’m always searching for the easiest way to style my hair because a) I’m lazy and b) I have a head full of weave that takes forever to style. So, if you don’t want to invest a lot of time into your getting ready ritual, try this one out.

What You’ll Need

Setting Spray
A Comb
Blow Dryer With Diffuser
Two Hair Elastics or Bobby Pins
Texturizing Spray or Beach Spray
Hairspray

What You’ll Do

Ok, first of all, make sure your hair is damp and then spray with a setting spray. If you have fine hair, use a thickening spray. Make sure the product is combed through your hair evenly. Make a center part and scrunch the ends of your hair as you blow dry. If your hair is curly however, do not, I repeat do not scrunch. You’ll have to blow dry those curls while brushing with a paddle brush.

Here comes the important stuff. When your hair is ninety percent dry, use the comb to continue your middle part all the way down the back of your head so that your hair is split into two sections. Twist each section up into a loose bun at ear level and either secure with a hair elastic or secure with bobby pins. Bobby pins are the least likely to leave a crease though. Blast your whole head with a diffuser until your hair is completely dry.

Seriously, that’s the most work you’ll have to put into this. Now you sit back and wait. Leave the buns in for a minimum of ten minutes (might as well slap your makeup on while you’re waiting because women are great at multitasking). When you’re done, take the buns out and gently run your fingers through your hair to break the waves up. Spray hair with a texturizing spray or beach spray to add even more texture and finish with hairspray to hold. Did you just take a surfing class? It sure looks like you did.

The whole point with beach waves is that they aren’t supposed to look perfect. If you prefer a little more polish, take your curling iron and add some curl before you spray with beach spray. I wouldn’t add too many, just enough that when you break them up they add a little more bounce to your existing waves. You want people to say that you have great hair, not a great hairstyle with this one. It’s all about easy. Give it a try and let me know how it turned out for you!
