It’s fall y’all.

As much as I want to fight the end of summer, I have to admit that there are lots of things to be excited about when it comes to fall ( and I don’t mean damn pumpkin spice everything ). Here are some of my favourite fall things.

1. Boots

Hunter boots, tall boots, short boots, I don’t care. It’s nice to have options to dress up your favourite outfits. As amazing as summer is, I find myself grabbing my same old pair of greasy flip flops because it’s too hot out for anything else.

2. Actual Clothing

Maybe you aren’t a swamp demon like me. If you aren’t, congratulations. I however, am disgusting when the sun is out. I sweat like I’m rocketing through hell in gasoline underwear. So the sheer fact that when fall hits and I get to wear actual outfits again really excites me. I don’t have to spend fifteen minutes wondering if I will get pit stains, or if I will get the ever so sexy under boob sweat line. Goodbye tank tops and ratty cut off shorts.

3. Makeup

Here we are back at the sweat factor. In the summer there is no point in me putting makeup on just so it all runs down my face and I look like a sad clown. When you’re out in the sun and water putting on sunscreen every five minutes, it doesn’t exactly keep that eyeliner on. So here is to some lipstick, or foundation, or anything that won’t have to battle against the blazing sun. *Bonus* you don’t have to worry about your foundation not matching your skin because every week brings a new shade of tanned skin.

4. Accessories

Now eeeeeerybody knows I’m a whore for a good accessory. Hats, vests, fur, jewelry. I will wear it all in the fall.

5. Halloween

Halloween makes my dark little heart so happy. Costumes, horror movies on tv all month, products for the home that are weird as shit because technically they’re “Halloween decorations”, the Halloween specials ( The Simpson’s and American Horror Story are the two that I wait for ). I just can’t get enough. Don’t get me wrong, my son and I watch horror movies about ninety percent of our time year round, but there is just something different about it during Halloween. He’s even been known to wear a werewolf costume around the house for fun from time to time no matter what time of the year. However, during Halloween we really kick it up a notch. Plus, we have the added bonus of not looking like creepy weirdos because it’s “acceptable” to be creepy during Halloween.

6. Soup

Do you remember the times you could eat soup without having to eat it in front of the air conditioner? Yeah, those were nice times. Soup, chili, stew, I’m that girl. As much as I love a good bbq, there’s something so nice about being able to use your stove without your husband luring around you telling you that you’re heating up the house.

7. Change

To me there’s always something exciting about changing seasons. It’s like a fresh start that you weren’t ready to make but the world is giving you the push you need. It’s that time you get to put all of your summer stuff away and organize your life so you can start fresh. It’s a great time to get rid of anything you don’t need or use anymore. It’s a time to set goals because your excuse of “it’s a nice day today, I’ll do it tomorrow” won’t be around to use. Or if you’re me, you won’t get caught up in “the sun is out so it’s time to drink thirteen beer on the deck”.

This passed summer has been a pretty rough one for my family and I. It kind of felt like one thing after the other over here (and we aren’t done yet). So I’m trying to find little silver linings whenever I can. I can’t wait for some fall goodness. Plus, if it’s not that great, at least I can curl up in a giant blanket while I drink some hot chocolate and be sad in a cozy cocoon.
