Everyone knows who Kate Moss is. If you don’t, then you had better learn. She is an absolute style icon and model that is, and that always has been, effortlessly on trend. If you’re ever looking for a little style inspiration for a night out, take a cue from one of her four pretty consistent styles.
Some of boho Kate’s staples are loose and flowy tunic or tops, an artsy and eye catching belt, an arm load of bracelets and a great pair of thong sandals. She never shies away from a vest or a great pair of flare jeans either. Nothing has to be too matchy matchy but she does tend to pile on different fabrics and textures in the same color family, while keeping all of her accessories the stand out stars. Play with prints, patterns and fur. Her boho beauty regimen is to keep things soft and pretty with a tan, loose hair and minimal makeup that usually focuses on the eyes.
The keys to this look are a great blazer and tailoring. As long as something has classic lines and fits well, then it will instantly look classic and well put together. A blazer though is what this style of outfit is based on. Mix it with some classic framed black sunglasses, a pair of pointy toed flats (ballet flats would work just as well), a great structured bag and well tailored shorts or denim. Skinny jeans in the same color family as your blazer works really well with this look too. Keep your hair simple and straight, add a light pink lip and blush and you will be in classic mode.
If glam rock Kate is more your style, then you’re probably a bit edgier. Pair a leather fringed jacket with some black skinny jeans or skinny cut leather pants. You can try wearing them with a simple black t-shirt or a full coverage vest with no shirt to amp up sex appeal. Add an edgy pair of shoes, a plain black fedora and a black leather or sequined bag and you’re set. A great red nail and lip color will be a sexy pop of color and some smudged black eye liner are all the makeup you need. Keep your hair tousled and piecy for an effortless “I rolled out of bed this glamorous” feel.
Ah yes, my favorite Kate. She always manages to pull off the perfect amount of Studio 54 in her seventies ensembles. Think disco bling like flashy bracelets, rings and layered necklaces. To really amp it up, add some well fitting high waisted pants. Throw on a low cut, tie front blouse, a great clutch and platform shoes for a subtle nod to the seventies. Keep your hair down and loose, but a bit more polished. You want to look like you’re attending Studio 54 at the beginning of the night, not coming home at the end of it. Keep your skin looking tanned with a bit of glow. If you want an extra pop of disco flavor, then add a colored eyeliner.
Those are some easy and great ways to style some of the things that are already in your closet so that you look like Kate Moss personally dressed you. Don’t overthink it. If you have to try on more than three things, then your doing it wrong. It’s supposed to be about what you like. Make it easy on yourself. Pick a vibe that you’re going for and have fun. It’s great to take inspiration from someone that has great style, but in the end it’s about making it your own. Don’t weight yourself down with decisions. If you like it then throw it on and try it. Mix it with different things until you decide which is your favorite new way to wear it. You will have a whole closet full of clothing that has been reworked and will look brand new. Have fun!
