Ok, here’s the thing. I can’t do my own nails to save my life. Yet, I do. I have a weird thing about other people doing my nails or my makeup. I just can’t let it happen! That’s even with my cousin being an amazing nail tech only half an hour away. It’s not that I don’t trust people, I know some great people that are fantastic at both of those jobs. It’s just my own personal crazy and control freak ways getting the better of me. If you’re like me and find that you would rather do your own nails at home, then try some of these simple and wow inducing fast manicures. People won’t believe you didn’t have your nails professionally done.
The Simple Dot
Who knew a dot could make such an impact. Two coats of your base nail color and a simple dot in the center at the bottom of your nail equals big results.
Colored French Tips
The old fashioned French manicure gets an update by simply making your tips black, neon, metallic, or any unexpected shade.
The Color Splice
Think of doing a French tip, but add on a shot of color cutting it off. It’s simple but unique.
The Stripe
Take a nail pen and once you have your base color on, make a clean line on the side of each of your nails.
Squared
Apply your base color and with your nail polish brush, make a clean mark in the middle of each of your tips so that it leaves a square.
The Outline
When your base color is dry, take a nail polish pen and outline the outside of your nail all the way around.
Fun Lines
With a nail pen, draw a line or two on each nail. You can do different lines on each finger, or keep the pattern the same on each.
The Triangle
Take regular tape and tape off a triangle on each nail over top of your dried base coat. Apply a color of your choice to the triangle. When dry, peel off the tape.
Light To Dark
Pick a nail polish and place five dots on a plate. Paint your first nail the original color. Then add one drop of white to one dot and mix, two drops to the second ect. Paint on nails going darkest to lightest or lightest to darkest. Your choice.
The Reverse French Manicure
Take a nail pen and draw an inverted half moon shape at the base of your nail. Fill in.
The Evil Eye
Do the reverse French manicure from above, then add a blue dot in the center of each and add a black dot in the middle of the blue when it’s dry.
The Mini Heart
Paint two coats of your base coat, then with a tooth pick, make two small dots side by side and join together in a heart shape.
The Accent Nail
Paint all of your nails leaving one bare, take a different color or glitter and paint it so that it’s different from the rest.
