For the final installment of what feels like a never ending trilogy, I’m going to tell you about the final look that I styled for a photo shoot. This time we went for a more wearable boho feel. Anyone that knows me knows that this is my everyday, go to style, so this one was a lot of fun for me to do. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Boho Styling

When I was pulling outfits for Thera (the photographer) to see if that’s what she wanted feel wise, I had pulled a completely different outfit. I started with a sheer, patterned dress and fur vest. I had to step back because that’s something that I’m sure people would associate with my own personal style and I didn’t want that to happen. So, round two I grabbed some leather leggings for more of a rock and roll boho vibe. Originally, I had started by pairing them with a white flowy shirt and plain black pumps. When the day of the shoot hit I basically changed everything. I added a sheer, black shirt with gold details and black and gold T-strap heels to the leggings. On top, I layered a salt and pepper colored fur vest for a little texture against the leather. For accessories, I grabbed a handful of gold bracelets, a giant black and emerald snake ring, a large square rough cut gold ring, a large multi colored round diamond ring, hoop earrings, a gold and black spiked, short necklace, a long gold necklace with a rounded snake pendant, a gold and black leather Michael Kors necklace and a great pair of Michael Kors sunnies. To add a bit of color I gave her a red suede cross body bag that had gold detailing and a gold wolf on the front. It picked up the red tones in the sunglass lenses and added a bit of interest.

Boho Hair

I brushed out Katie’s hair after it had been held in place by sea salt spray from the glam photos that we did. Then, I parted her hair, added some more sea salt spray and started to scrunch it with my hands. The whole point of rock and roll boho hair is that you don’t want it too perfect. You kind of want it to look like you may or may not have just finished having sex on a tour bus. Katie has great hair texture with a bit of loose curl, so it worked out really well. Thank god. We had no plan B to try if plan A had failed.

Boho Makeup

This time I had Katie remove all of the makeup from the two previous shoots that we had just finished. We were going for a whole different look with this one. I started by applying lotion to her face so that her skin would be a bit more dewy. Then, I applied foundation all over her face followed by some concealer under her eyes and photo ready powder to set. Her eyes were the focal point of this look, so I brushed her brows and added a sparkly white shadow under the brow bone. I applied a natural shadow all over the lid and in the crease and under the eye I applied a black eyeshadow, blending. For eyeliner, I lined her top and bottom lids with a deep black, smudging it under the eye for more smokiness. The final step for eyes was applying tons of black mascara on the top and bottom lashes. For her cheeks I took a light bronzer and applied it under the cheekbones for tons of definition. Some highlighter on top of the cheekbones made them pop even more. Finally, I applied a nude lipstick to her lips.

This whole look is about not being too perfect. That’s why I wanted to pair it with some lux accents like gold, leather and fur. My inspiration for Katie was to make her look like a groupie that paid to fly half way across the world to hang out with the band. With Thera and Katie’s help, I think that we captured that perfectly. Thank you again to Thera and Katie. Thera, your photography always amazes me. You are an absolute talent. Thank you for including me in your vision. Katie, you are stunning and are so easy to be around. You didn’t complain once and you trusted us the whole time…..even with no top on. You did a great job. If any of you want to check out more of Thera’s work, here’s where to find her!
