Some days I wake up and realize I really want to walk around with a crown of flowers ( and by some days, I mean almost every damn day of the week ). Here is an easy do it yourself that you can do for fun with such great results that you can actually wear it in public. Remember to choose flowers that flatter each other. The more they mesh with one another, the more wearable it will be.

Materials

1- Hot Glue Gun
2- Wire Cutters
3- Measuring Tape
4- Scissors
5- Fillers And Finishers ( feathers, berries, ribbon, glittered anything )
6- Thick And Thin Floral Wire
7- Floral Shears
8- Gloves

Steps

1- Measure the circumference of your head. This way you won’t make your crown so tight that it makes your hair poof out on the sides like a clown. It also will ensure it won’t slip down into a wonderful floral necklace.

2- Choose the floral wire that you would like to use. Make sure that you cut it around two inches longer than what your head circumference was.

3- Make a circle with your wire. Bend the ends of each end into a u so that you can hook each of the ends onto one another to close it. They should fit together like a hook and eye closure.

4- Choose which flowers you want to use and trim the stems to be about 2 to 3 inches long.

5- Starting on one side of the center of your headpiece wire, attach your first flower to the crown by wrapping the stem around the wire headpiece using either thin wire or floral tape.

6- You can place each flower alone or gather them in bunches and place them, as long as you wrap the full stem around the base of the wire headpiece and hold in place with floral tape or wire. Remember, you can achieve any effect you want. If you want some thin pieces showing, then leave them bare. If you prefer to wear your hair to one side, then add more flowers to the side where less hair will be. It’s all up to you. This is your vision and your results.

7- Once you’ve gone around the whole crown placing your flowers and wiring the stems down to the crown, you can place your add ons and center focal point. This can be feathers, leaves that are covered in glitter ect. You can even wrap a necklace among the flowers for a little bit of glamour. Be sure you hold these in place with a couple of dots of hot glue.

8- Take a look and see if you have to fill in any spaces with more flowers or any of your add ons. Or if you have it a little to heavy in an area, then remove what you don’t want there.

9- To finish, secure the ends with floral tape. A nice way to finish it off is to affix a flower on each end facing out with hot glue gun. This will help hide any exposed end.

10- Strap your new floral crown on and run out to a field and immediately start spinning around like the glamorous flower child that you are.

I hope you have fun trying this project out. I personally hope to lure my girlfriends over with some wine to make them. I can imagine right now that ours miiiight not turn out that well after a bottle or two, but that’s half of the fun. Let me know if you try it and how it turns out for you! Good luck!
