Ah, another Monday. Some people love them and some people dread them. If you’re looking to change your Monday outlook, then why not try to follow the four agreements of life. It’s a great way to start your week and get your mind right.
1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity and mean what you say. Try not to speak against yourself or use your words to gossip about others. Use your words to promote truth and love rather than negativity. Try to catch yourself when you want to say something that could be harmful to others. It can make for a long week when you kick it off by surrounding yourself with unnecessary negativity.
2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. You have no control over their lives or their actions. You don’t know what they are going through and you can’t navigate that for them. It’s so easy to get angry when someone acts like an asshole, but then you’re allowing their mood to affect your life. Once you realize that you aren’t the centre of the universe, it will become clear that you don’t have any control over other people’s words and actions. You only have control over your own.
3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Ask the questions that you’re afraid to ask. Communicate even when it’s a hard subject. As soon as you can communicate clearly with those around you, you leave a lot less room for drama. Cut out the bullshit of guessing and outright ask. Transparency is key in all relationships and it makes things so much easier. You’re not a mind reader. If you want to cut down situations that cause a lot of stress and anxiety, learn to ask the questions that you want the answers for.
4. Always Try To Do Your Best
So you want to cry and be sad all day? Then you cry your ass off. Make it count. Get rid of that negativity and let it all out. Put your heart into everything you do. There is nothing wrong with looking back and thinking “damn, that was a good cry yesterday”. People think that “doing their best” has to be accomplishing something grand. No, it’s just throwing yourself fully into what you’re doing so that you don’t look back with regret. If you want to have a lazy day, then do that. Stop getting up for tasks every three minutes. Take that day to relax to your fullest so that the next day you’re refreshed. Regret is a heavy thing to carry around. If you put your heart into everything that you do, no matter how small or useless it seems, you will start to declutter your mind, feel more at ease, and judge yourself less.
Try to implement some of these into your week. Obviously, no one is perfect and you will slip. You’ll talk shit about someone or have a pity day. That’s fine! I’ll be right there with you. It’s just when you start the week trying to have a better outlook, it often works…. at least for a couple of days anyway lol. I hope this week is good to you, and if it’s not, you can always try again next Monday. That’s one thing about the dreaded Monday, it always shows back up.
