With the thought of spring just around the corner, this is the time of the year when people start getting a little stir crazy. If you find that the weather or maybe just personal stuff is getting you down, then try these mood boosters.

Smell The Rosesimage

No, literally. Purchase a small bouquet of roses, rose oil, or a rose candle to add some of their perfume to your house. Their scent oxygenates cells and causes a lift in your mood and energy. Plus, the pop of color in your home will give your mood a lift too. Who doesn’t like looking at a bouquet of flowers?

Drink Teaimage

Green tea that is….. Green tea increases the presence of dopamine in the brain, which chemically lifts your mood. Oh, and it also boosts your metabolism. Basically, you can never go wrong with some green tea.

Avoid Too Much Of Anything Goodimage

It turns out a lot of the things in this world that I love make me a shitty person. Mood wise, anyhow. Alcohol, sweets, anything delicious. They’re all bad for your mood. Drinking too much alcohol and having too much sugar can actually have a depressive effect that lasts more than 48 hours.

Take A Work Breakimage

Work can get on anyone’s nerves. By lunchtime if you find yourself turning into a moody lady, then slip away for ten minutes over lunch to hold a couple of easy yoga poses. If you’re wearing a skirt or something that isn’t very yoga ready, then try some self reflexology. Simply, roll your foot from heel to ball on a gold ball to help relax.

Eat Rightimage

Eating right does a lot more for you than just help you to look good. Eating a good breakfast like oatmeal with cinnamon will keep your blood sugar up. Keeping your blood sugar up is a huge part of being in a good mood.

Lighten Upimage

In the winter the daylight hours are shorter. Shorter daylight hours affect brain chemistry and make us feel sad inside. If you can’t book a vacation and jet the hell out of here, then try a light box. Sitting near a light box for 20 minutes a few times a week will instantly give your mood a positive improvement.

Girl Timeimage

Ok girls, remember when you secretly planned my demise when I said that too much booze affects your mood? I’m going to make up for it. Turns out that female bonding sends joyful, calming signals to the brain that help you de stress and put you in a happier place. So medically speaking, you should probably have a girls night…..and maybe that includes some wine.

Negate The Hateimage

You can’t control the negative stuff that happens to you. Gossip, a run of bad luck, or the loss of a friendship can really put you in a bad space. Sure, take a day to be upset and cry. Then it’s time to move onward and upward. Don’t carry someone else’s anger for them. Make peace with what has happened and move on. Tomorrow will be a better day, especially if you aren’t thinking about something that was pulling you down the day before. Let those people stew in their own anger. Some people just aren’t willing to move past those things. Don’t be one of those people. Put some good music on, a smile on your face and a look to the future for all of the great things you could be using that energy on instead.

If you’ve tried all of these things and still can’t seem to break your bad mood, then I have one last measure for you to take. Sex. Grab your man and lay some good sex on him. Even if it doesn’t cure all of your problems, it should put a smile on your face for a couple of hours anyway.
