I promised you guys a little while back that I would be writing about some more amazing local made products, and here we are. Today I would like to tell you a little bit about the Winnipeg Manitoba based skin care company Mama Pacha.

Tara Garcia decided to start Mama Pacha in January 2012, but has been working on product recipes for over the past ten years. She has always been drawn to the healing virtues of plants and nature and decided to find a way to help others using them. If you happened to wonder why “Mama Pacha”, it’s simple. Tara’s husband is from Argentina and they have spent a lot of time there throughout their over ten year marriage. She even had her first child there. Mama Pacha means Mother Earth, which just so happens to be the basis of all of her products.

This is where I’m going with all of this, after hearing Tara’s story, I really wanted to put it in my write up. I feel as though the whole feel of her products can be summed up in this story. Tara’s dad was suffering from very bad arthritis and he asked her if she could come up with something that would help. Low and behold, she made a salve that really did the trick. He passed it around the family and the next thing you know, her product list jumped from five or six products to over forty. Here I thought I was doing well when I bought my dad a new coffee mug lol.

The best part about Mama Pacha is that their goal is to help people make the switch over to all natural products. They are all petroleum and paraben free and are offered at a very affordable price so that everyone has the option to incorporate natural products into their daily lives. They also support local initiatives that are also trying to promote healthy living. Oh, and their reusable bags, labels, brochures and more are all made locally, because to quote Tara “we live in a province with amazing talent and amazing people doing such good in this world”.

Before I get into the products that I’ve personally tried, I would also like to tell you that Mama Pacha uses high quality ingredients and keep their recipes very simple. They make every recipe in a small batch and fill and label every every jar by hand to assure quality control. Also, as an environmental plus, they’ve started offering product refills. Here are the products that I’ve personally tried and tested:

Nourishing Face Cream-$15.00image

This face cream features calendula infused into olive oil which makes a very smooth, thin application. I found that it is light but sooooo moisturizing and soaks in quickly. Your skin feels smoother and softer almost immediately. I loved it. I loved that it had a nice light scent and that it didn’t cake at all, which most moisturizers that pack that kind of punch always do.

Exquisite Eye Cream-$9.00image

Ok, here’s the thing. I never use eye cream because I hate how it feels. It’s almost all to thick and heavy for me. You can’t wear makeup over it and it makes me angry. Not anymore people. This eye cream goes on so thin and silky that it’s weightless. Your makeup easily glides right over top of it and it doesn’t stick into your eye creases accenting them. A little goes a long way and you will be moisturized all day because of the coconut oil, avocado oil and vitamin E recipe. The best part is that it’s NINE DOLLARS!!! Now don’t I feel silly for literally wasting hundreds of dollars on eye creams that I hated when I could have been bathing in this amazingness for nine dollars.

Lip Balm-$4.50image

This little lip balm holds a lot of surprises. It’s made with calendula, St.Johns wort, Red Clover, Coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin E, olive oil and essential oils. It’s not sticky at all and glides on nice and smooth. It’s light enough to use on your child. As a test I put it on my five year olds lip that was red from him licking it and the redness was gone within two days. A perfect little addition to your purse.

I highly recommend trying some of these products out. I found them to be great. Plus, they have a line for kids and for grooming your men’s manly beards! Here’s where you can find them.
