Sorry that I’ve been M. I. A the past couple of days guys, I’ve been battling a devil flu that has rendered me useless. I’ve managed to crawl over to my iPad today though so I figured I should write something. Being sick has had me thinking about how I never want to feel like this ever again. With spring and summer quickly approaching, I’ve come to realize that, even though this time it’s the flu, the next time I feel this way will most likely be self induced. So, here are some tried and true hangover cures to fix you right up.
Hair Of The Dog
That’s right. Muster up every ounce of courage you have, fight past the nausea, and have a shot of whatever put you in this boat in the first place. Personally, I think this works because it gets you a little bit drunk and keeps you that way until the hangover is gone. Whatever works.
Oils
Rub 5 drops of peppermint, 3 drops of lavender, and 3 drops of rosemary oil on your neck just before you take a hot shower for some relief.
Almonds
Try to eat at least five or six almonds before you go out for a night of drinking. It helps your body because they are full of nutrients.
Lemon
Anything to do with lemon is good for your body. You can rehydrate with lemon water. Or if you can’t keep anything down, then just suck on a slice. The high level of vitamin c helps your body break down the alcohol.
Tea
Green or ginger tea are both great for battling a hangover. First of all, they are great for hydration. Secondly, they help calm nausea. If you add honey then your body gets a bigger boost because it’s a great antioxidant.
Bananas
If you’ve had a night full of drinking then it’s safe to say that your body has said goodbye to a lot of its potassium. A fast way of filling your potassium back up is with a banana. Eating one as soon as you get up can prevent you from feeling like garbage for the whole afternoon.
Water, Water, Water
There’s no other way to put this than……. drink water. As much as you can. Slam a glass full before you get into bed and have some more ready for when you wake up.
Eggs
I know. I know. A runny egg is probably the last thing you want to eat when you get up. Maybe you shouldn’t be such a booze hound then! Joking. Seriously though, make a couple hard boiled eggs and keep them in the fridge. Eggs are loaded with nutrients and help with liver function.
Exercise
I don’t mean go out and try hurdles for the first time. Do any kind of light exercise that you can to help yourself detoxify and to give your body some much needed energy. A light walk, some yoga, a swim. It all works.
Don’t Drink So Much
Yeah right. I figured I would end the list with a joke…..so there it is lol. I know exactly how good a third glass of wine tastes. By that time, you might as well just keep going.
Every now and then it’s good to go out and enjoy yourself. If that means having some alcoholic beverages while you’re out then have at it. However, if you have to drag your butt out of bed early to deal with life the next day, then give these a try. I hope to see some of your smiling faces the next time I go out so we can try these remedies together!
