It’s winter. Therefore, every woman I have run into lately has talked about how her face is falling off. I have good news for all of you ladies. There is something that you can do about it. I would also like to point out that this is coming from someone who is part lizard. I can never hold moisture in my skin, like I should be living in the desert. So in the winter I’m really gross. Somehow though my skin even surprises me by finally keeping moisture in once a month….just so I can break out. Ever since I started to actually put an effort into doing these steps, I’ve seen an improvement. So give it a shot. It’s worth the try.

I Will Always Wash My Face Before Bed

Ok. Going to bed without washing off your makeup is a huge no no. It clogs your pores, brews up pimples and can cause inflammation. If you don’t want to deal with any of those things then take the minute to cleanse your face. Just use cleanser and lukewarm water and wash your face in circular motions to really grab that dirt and makeup out of there. Then pat dry. If you are in the midst of an amazing wine drunk and there is no way in hell that you’re dragging it into the bathroom to wash your face, then keep some cleansing cloths of facial pads beside your bed. Try to give your face a quick wiped own before you pass out. If you don’t know your skin type, then wash your face with some mild cleanser. Wait half an hour and see how your skin takes it. If your skin feels tight or itchy, then you have dry skin. If it feels a bit greasy still, then you have oily skin. If you get neither of those reactions, then chances are you have normal to combination skin. So arm yourself accordingly.

I Will Take Care Of My Skin While I’m Asleep

Let me tell you, the night time is the right time. Applying creams and serums that add moisture or prevent the signs of aging are best used before bed. During the day you have to battle sun exposure, wind and pollution. At night your skin is finally getting a chance to rest and renew. Why not give it some help. Look for any creams or serums that have words like hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and anti aging peptides and retinol. A lightweight serum is great for all skin types and can be worn under moisturizer. If you’re skin is dry like mine, then use a thicker cream so that it can really moisturize and penetrate. Always remember to apply to the face AND the neck.

I Will Exfoliate

You need to get that dead skin off, girls. No joke. First of all, it reveals fresher, more radiant skin. It also prevents your pores from clogging up, resulting in break outs galore. An added bonus is that you will boost collagen production aka what plumps up your skin so that your lines aren’t as visible. If you are sensitive then only exfoliate once a week or you will have a case of red face when you’re out and about. My dry skinned self exfoliates at least three times a week (even though you’re supposedly not supposed to that much with dry skin). I actually think girls with dry skin need to more than any other skin type! Our skin is falling off! Get it off and immediately add some good face cream and your skin will be back to feeling amazing. With oily skin, I would say exfoliate twice a week. Any more than that and you can actually boost your oil production. Just something to think about.

I Will Give My Eye Area Some Extra Love

Your eye area needs extra hydration. It’s tricky though because it’s also prone to puffiness and dark circles. What I’m getting at is that your regular face lotion might not get the job done. Plus, the skin around your eyes is suuuuuper delicate, which throws a monkey wrench in the whole plan. That means it’s always better to use retinol and antioxidant products made specifically for this area. Pick a product that is going to look after any eye area concerns that you have. If you don’t have any fine lines to worry about, then just use some regular moisturizing eye gel. Lightly pat some on around your eyes morning and night after you have applied your moisturizer.

I Will Always Protect My Face From The Sun

If you’re new to life, then allow me to fill you in on something……the sun damages your skin. Even if you’re just sitting near a window or are driving in your car. This will add up over time and can lead to freckling, brown spots and will reduce collagen and elastin. This is going to break your skin down and age you faster than normal. Not cool. Always choose a moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or higher with full spectrum protection to put on in the mornings before you start your day. Make sure it has some other perks like vitamin A, C and E, and green and white tea to fight free radicle damage. Make sure that every time you apply, it’s at least a teaspoon full to your face, neck and ears.

After explaining all of the steps that will get your skin back on track, I figured that I should be a good person and tell you about my new favorite skin care line. It’s called Nip + Fab and it’s so fucking amazing. A part of me is dying right now because I swear to god if you all rush to the drugstore and and they have none when I need to get some more, I will start knocking on doors lol. Anyhow, some of you might need to do an allergy test first before using it. Basically, just rub a small amount on your forearm before you slap it on your face. No weird reaction means that you’re good to go. You’ll only have to do an allergy test for any of the venom lines. They have products that range from moisturizing, cellulite removal and firming, to my favorites…viper venom, bee sting and the glycolic fix. These are all super moisturizing and help tighten the skin and fight off any signs of aging. And they work. With prices that range from ten to forty dollars, they are a great drugstore fix. Plus you don’t use a lot during an application. We have a winner folks!imageimageimage

Here’s to getting our skin back on track.
