If you’re like me, you love watching The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with friends. My friends happen to be a tub of ice cream, tears, and body envy. The more I think about it though the more I realize the many reasons why I would make the WORST Victorias Secret Model ever.

First off let’s discuss that highly unattainable body. That’s a lot of working out. And I don’t mean normal people a lot. I mean your world revolving around it. That’s a lot of pressure! What if you don’t want to go to the gym that day? Well you don’t fit into your billion dollar gem encrusted bra… That’s what. I know what your thinking. “But I read in an interview that they only work out for a half hour three days a week and they eat what they want”. The thing with that is, they’re lying. Bold face, out right lying to all of us. Those willowy ladies have a lot of dedication to their craft….. Not to mention a good dose of colonics. Of course their genes play a huge part too, which brings me to my next point.

I wasn’t blessed with a lithe, six foot frame. I’m built like a corgi. A corgi that likes to drink beer. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a complete mess. I’m also not going to be gracing the cover of a magazine any time soon. As much as I would like to hiss at the t.v every time I see one of them, I have to snap myself back into reality. That would be a very hard lifestyle to have. Sure, there’s airbrushing ect. That only takes you so far. These gorgeous creatures have to be ready at every moment they decide to be in the public. Can you imagine seeing a V.S model in a store with a bad breakout buying tampons and something to help them poop because they ate half a piece of cheese and got constipated? The illusion was just shot for you wasn’t it? And heaven forbid they broke down and ate a bagel that morning and a photographer snaps a picture. For the next week that picture will be in every magazine with a bold lettered BUMP WATCH screaming over top of it. That also brings me to my last reason as to why i couldn’t do the job well. I like bagels. That’s pretty self explanatory so I feel as though i dont need to go into detail with that one. Im sure you get the point that i would be one giant pregnancy headline all year round.

We need to stop thinking that we are all supposed to look like these women. I have bad news for you. Are you ready?………it’s not going to fucking happen. Unless you have a hook up with a fairy godmother or some kind of magical lamp, then I’m sorry. It was just the roll of the dice. We can however aspire to be the best version of ourselves. Take those things we see as flaws and turn them into quirks that make us who we are as individuals. Live a healthy lifestyle and feel good about it. I am blessed to have a group of amazingly beautiful girlfriends. Each is different and each has something I wish I had. Both inside and out. If I told these girls that, they would tell me to shut my filthy mouth. You see, as women we can easily spot the things we wish we had in others and not in ourselves. That’s why so many of us walk around pissed off all the time! If we could all just stop, breathe, and look in the mirror without hissing like a vampire seeing a cross, we could maybe one day see we really don’t have it that bad. We don’t necessarily have it Victorias Secret Model good, but we really don’t have it all that bad. I have something for you to try. The next time you’re out and you see a girl that you don’t even want to stand next to because it will be bad for your self esteem, give her a compliment in your head. See if you can even muster a “she has really nice hair”. Even more awesome female points if you can walk up and tell her to her face. I can guarantee you will feel good about it. Once we start being able to recognize the amazing things other women have, we can start seeing them in ourselves. And really, you never know, your compliment might make a mere mortal feel like they’re walking in a Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
